Salesforce Revenue Lifecycle Management (RLM): Quote Creation/ Configuration

Salesforce Revenue Lifecycle Management (RLM): Quote Creation/ Configuration

Salesforce RLM uses the Standard, out of the box Quote object; adding products to the Quote that have been created via RLM is a different process, however.

To Create and add RLM products to a Quote

1. Create a quote as you normally would. I.e. Navigate to an app in the App Launcher such as “Sales,” any one that includes Quotes.

2. Fill out required fields and click Save to create the Quote.

3. Instead of adding products as you normally would from the Quote Lines related list, use the ‘Browse Catalogs’ button in the upper-right.

4. Select a Pricebook that contains your RLM products and click Next.

5. Select the Category that your RLM product was created for, then the product(s) of your choice. In this example we will choose the ‘AG Laptop Pro Bundle.’ You can can simply use the ‘Add’ button to accept the defaults, or further customize each product/bundle using the gear icon.

6. If you click the gear icon, this will allow you to configure the product or bundle. The configuration screen shows several things. In this example we are looking at a bundle rather than a single product (product configuration screens are more simple).

1. In the upper-right: toggle options

  1. 1. The ‘Product Validation’ toggle will enforce product validation rules, missing required attributes, and selection conflicts
  2. 2. The ‘Instant Pricing' toggle, if enabled will make the prices update as you make selections, rather than having to use the ‘Update Prices’ button in the lower-right after making your selections

2. Top-center: Messages Panel: shows warnings if any of the products in the bundle have missing selections or attributes (we’ll look at this more closely in this example)

3. Left Column: Bundle Overview and each product within. Use the gear icon for each product to make modifications or make updates to fix validation errors

4. Right Column: Summary shows a waterfall view of the bundle. You’ll notice that in this example ‘Printer Bundle’ is part of this bundle and has its own products which have been expanded for view

7. Let’s click the gear icon for ‘Printer Bundle’ to correct the validation error. You’ll notice that no product selection has been made in the required ‘Connectivity' Group. We’ll select ‘Wireless’ and then Save.

8. Similarly, to correct the error for the ‘AG Laptop,’ in the ‘Storage’ category we’ll make a selection for the required field ‘Storage’ and Save.

9. Now that all of our validation errors are fixed we’ll use the ‘Update Prices’ button, then Save from the ‘AG Laptop Bundle’ configuration screen, and Save from the previous ‘Browser Products’ screen.

10. From the Quote, use the ‘Quote Line Items’ tab to see your selections

11. Notice too that from the Quotes standard related list ‘Quote Line Items’ the products appear.
