Have you ever wanted some insight into the staffing industry? Which trades are the most in-demand and how is technology changing the way employers find their employees? Insight Magazine sat down with Bill Peppler, managing partner at Kavaliro, and this Q&A session addressed all of these red hot recruiting questions.
Tell us a little about Kavaliro. What services do you provide and why did you decide to start a staffing agency?
Kavaliro delivers staffing solutions to employers by providing the most qualified and professional employees. Through best practices and optimal employee recruiting strategies, Kavaliro is able to find employees that fill both project and permanent position needs in order to ensure the ongoing success of all types of businesses. Headquartered in Orlando, Kavaliro also has offices located in Charlotte, Washington D.C., Tampa, and Jacksonville.
What advice do you have for those currently looking for work?
At Kavaliro, we look for a candidate with real experience. My advice for a candidate still searching for a job is to be involved and take leadership roles in community/business clubs. This activity and involvement demonstrates skill sets that can translate well into an entry-level position and can help boost a resume.
Currently, technology plays an important role when job searching. What are some of the latest methods employers are using to recruit new hires?
Approximately 9 million people choose to use a mobile device to search for jobs. With this in mind, Kavaliro wanted to make life simple by creating a job search app which allows job seekers to stay informed on new career opportunities on-the-go. It also allows applicants to search and apply to jobs nationwide with ease. Responding quickly to job postings is crucial, so going mobile gives applicants the ability to do so.
In addition to job search apps, employers are turning more to social media to assist in filling a position. For instance, Kavaliro uses social media in recruiting new hires because it makes the process that much more efficient. We actually use it so much, that more than 75 percent of our hires were garnered via social media searches. By establishing an online reputation you become valuable to a business. Sharing this information with family, friends, and even neighbors, will expand your options exponentially as well.
What type of job growth have you seen this year compared to 2012?
We’re seeing an increase from 10-20 percent across the board and particularly in Central Florida. Within this growth, there has been a rise of part-time and temp positions due to new legislative and changes within industries.
Which industries and positions are the most in-demand right now?
Over the last year we’ve seen continuous growth in the technology services sector. Technology-related positions/careers are currently 6 percent under the national unemployment average and [that figure] continues growing.
Kavaliro was recently named a Fast 50 company by the Orlando Business Journal. What’s next for the company?
We’re very proud of our accomplishments, but we feel that we’re just getting started. Kavaliro has a lot on the horizon and that includes additional acquisitions, expanding our reach in the Southeast and continuing to support our new teams in Tampa and Jacksonville.
