On Sunday, September 26th, 2010, Kavaliro was in attendance to witness Mark NeJame make one of his lifelong dreams come true by starting his own charity. Alongside his wife and co-event chair, Josie, they put on Runway to Hope: Curing Childhood Cancer Never Goes out of Style at the Mall of Millennia. E! News Anchor Giuliana Rancic hosted the Champagne Brunch & Fashion Event to benefit Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. A delicious brunch accompanied with fashion performances by Chanel, Gucci, Jimmy Choo, Neiman Marcus, Salvatore Ferragamo, St. John, Tory Burch, with Jewels by David Yurman and Tiffany & Co. started the venue. An in-store dessert & champagne party with silent auction items at Cartier, Chanel, David Yurman, Gucci, Jimmy Choo, Neimann Marcus, Michael Kors, Salvatore Ferragamo, St. John, Tiffany & Co., and Tory Burch concluded this amazing event.
All funds generated benefit Pediatric Clinical Trials and Research for Neuroblastoma at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. Neuroblastoma accounts for nearly 10% of all childhood cancers. In the United States approximately 600 new cases are identified each year. Despite steady advances in chemotherapy treatment, children with high risk disease continue to have a poor survival rate. Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children has recently become a member of the Neuroblastoma and Meduloblastoma Translation Research Consortium. This research will assist in fighting the battle against this deadly form of childhood cancer.
Founded in August 2010, Runway to Hope is based in Orlando and functions to benefit pediatric cancer by way of raising funds in areas including but not limited to research, education, technology, and family assistance. Its mission is to serve children and families in the Central Florida community in which the children have been diagnosed with cancer. Runway to Hope supports these children and families by partnering with local hospitals and businesses to raise funds and awareness. Kavaliro is happy to support this wonderful cause by attending the events and encouraging others to get involved as well.
