We were very excited with all of the advice we received for Kavaliro’s career advice contest! Active professionals from across the country took to our Facebook and Twitter pages to share their professional insight. The winner of the career advice contest, Clara Lenis, shared this piece of advice on our Facebook page:
“Consistency and perseverance are key when it comes to achieving anything in your career”
Thanks to Clara and everyone else who posted their best career advice! Check out these other great entries below.
- Work for people you respect....do something you enjoy...learn from your mistakes (because we all make them)...always be honest...work hard...don't burn bridges
- Always go the extra mile!
- Your path will never be as sure as you expect, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
- Try a not for profit that you care about. While you may not get paid much (if anything), you can gain experience, relationships, contacts and possibly (if you do a good job) a referral.
- It is kinda like dating... Don't get discouraged if a few of your biggest targets pass on you. Maybe they won't next time and there is a better fit for you right around the corner, most likely. Good luck, happy hunting, be polite (always), have fun within professional guidelines and don't forget to stop to smell the roses.
- When you interview treat everyone you meet as if they were the person conducting the interview as you never know who the decision makers are (the receptionist might be asked what she thought of you...for example)
- Don't just mention your features (people person, etc); Explain BENEFITS those features bring to the company.
