We’re thrilled to introduce you to Kavaliro’s January Consultant of the Month, Ann Kim!
Born and raised in Korea, Ann moved to the United States when she was 25 years old. Her journey from Korea to the U.S. has been one of determination, growth, and was largely guided by a passion for technology. A passion which has been the driving force throughout her career.
She pursued her education at NOVA Community College and WGU where she honed her skills and deepened her knowledge of most technology related fields. Her fascination with machine learning and her drive to stay at the forefront of technological advancements have shaped her professional path. When she was asked about her favorite part of her job Ann said, “Learning something new and contributing my energy and knowledge to protect assets and people is my favorite part of the job.” Currently, Ann is taking the "AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner" course and learning Python, a programming language. She explains, “Learning new things makes me feel fulfilled.” Her dedication to continuous learning solidifies her drive and passion for her field.
Her impressive career is the perfect example of her commitment to growth and innovation. It’s also a testament to who she is as a person. Ann was nominated for Consult of the Month by Kavaliro’s Federal Team. Her advice for those looking to enter her field is practical and simple: “Be ready to learn new things, always be consistent, and continually research to update and develop knowledge in technology. Most of all, know that your physical health is just as important as mental health—working out 3+ times weekly is key to staying in good health and shape.”
Ann’s personal journey is just as inspiring as her professional one. At the age of 10, her father posed a life-changing question to her and her five siblings: “Do you want to live a peaceful life in a rural area, or do you want to succeed and have a good career in the city?” Ann’s response was clear: “I will live in the city.” This simple determination has been a hallmark of her life ever since.
Outside of work, Ann’s hobbies reflect her curiosity and zest for life. She enjoys researching, learning new things, working out, walking, and hiking. She’s also a part-time realtor, combining her love for helping others with her passion for interior design, floor layouts, and real estate investment strategies.
Ann is most proud of the integrity and honesty she places at the center of her life. Whether working alone or with a team, she brings these values to every project. She’s also proud of her role in training new ISSOs in Cyber Architecture over the years, sharing her expertise and helping others grow in their careers.
