As we close out Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, it is important to reflect on the history and contributions of the AAPI community, as well as the efforts being made to ensure that the AAPI community continues to thrive in our country. Kavaliro recognizes the importance of uplifting, celebrating, and providing support to all team members, no matter their background. In this blog post, we will highlight the importance of AAPI Heritage Month, the contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the IT industry, and the importance of promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.

To understand the importance of AAPI Heritage Month, we must recognize the challenges and struggles that this community has faced. Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders have a complex history in the United States, from being brought over as cheap labor to experiencing discrimination and racism today. In the IT space, AAPI individuals can often make up a significant part of the workforce, yet remain underrepresented in leadership positions.  As a Technical Solutions firm, we are inspired by the significant contributions that members of the AAPI community have made in our industry. From software engineering and data analytics to product management and design, the AAPI community is full of innovators who've contributed to the development of our world. Many of the most successful tech companies, including YouTube, LinkedIn, and Zoom, were founded or co-founded by people who come from an AAPI background.
